A used silk scarf in brown. Silk scarves from these decades were designed by artists and finished by hand. A signed, hand-rolled hem still reads as luxury sixty years on.
Roman fur, and the bag that started it all.
Founded in Rome in 1925 by Adele and Edoardo Fendi. The double-F logo, designed by Karl Lagerfeld in 1965, and the Baguette of 1997 made the house a fashion force.
The Baguette, carried tucked under the arm like a French loaf, sparked the entire designer bag craze of the 1990s, and vintage examples remain highly collectible.
What to look for
The double-F hardware and the serial. A Baguette should sit slim and firm, and the logo print should be crisp on both sides.
Hand-rolled hems and saturated color are the tells of a good scarf. Gently steam it before judging; vintage silk relaxes beautifully.
How to wear it
Knot it at the neck, tie it onto a bag handle, or frame it. A scarf this good spends as much time on display as it does on your shoulders.
