Men's New Avirex Bomber Jacket Handmade Leather American Flight Military Style

🧥 Leather Jackets · 1970s–90s

The edit · Leather Jackets

A pre-owned leather jacket. A leather jacket is the rare piece that looks better the longer you own it. Vintage ones arrive already broken in, the collar softened and the cuffs scuffed in the best way.

The flight jacket that never landed.

Founded in New York in 1975, Avirex made faithful reproductions of the leather flight jackets worn by the US Air Force, and supplied them to the military and to Hollywood.

Vintage Avirex jackets, especially the A-2 bomber with its painted squadron art, are collected for their heavy hides and period details.

What to look for

The leather weight and the label. Older Avirex jackets use thick, stiff cowhide or goatskin, and the painted back panels should be original, not re-inked.

Weight is everything. A dense, supple hide that's already broken in will outlast anything new, so check the lining seams and the zip teeth.

How to wear it

Keep the rest plain. A white tee, straight-leg jeans and boots. Size up rather than down, and try it over a slip dress to see it differently.
