A used pair of jeans in blue. Vintage denim fits differently because it was cut differently, with higher waists, straighter legs and cotton that holds its shape. The fade is real, earned by somebody else's decade of wearing.

Founded in Florence in 1921 by Guccio Gucci as a leather goods and luggage house. The bamboo handle, the Jackie bag and the GG monogram made Gucci a mid-century icon, revived by Tom Ford in the 1990s.

What to look for

Look for the stamped serial and the quality of the bamboo, which should be hand-bent with visible heat marks. Older GG canvas has a depth that modern printing lacks.

Selvedge edges, chain-stitched hems and real fades made by a body, not a factory. Raw denim shrinks, so know your measurements.
